  2. Bottom layer of the seal
  3. GLAPOR flex hot bitumen
  4. GLAPOR foam glass plates
  5. GLAPOR flex hot bitumen
  6. Steel deck

Description of the application

The GLAPOR flat roof on trapezoidal steel deck is a compact and under flow secured bonded flat roof construction.

The thermal insulation is installed free of thermal bridging with GLAPOR flex hot bitumen on the high corrugations of the steel trapezoidal deck.

The sealing system conforms to the legal and normative regulations for the respective intended use.

The minimum roof pitch of the flat roof construction of 2.0% should be respected. The GLAPOR tapered system has different slopes available.

To avoid concentrated drainage GLAPOR roof riders are available in different versions.

Advantages of the GLAPOR flat roof systems:

Quality: Cellular glass products manufactured with proprietary technology and professional quality control.

Service: Expert advice from planners, structural engineers, construction experts and contractors.

Efficiency: Very long service life of the system constructions with minimum maintenance.

Sustainability: Made from 100% recycled glass, we guarantee consistent material properties over the entire usage time.

Safety: GLAPOR cellular glass insulation panels are diffusion-tight. When installed with closed joints, a vapor barrier is not required.

Planning notes / Execution notes

A vapor barrier is not required when using GLAPOR cellular glass insulation because GLAPOR cellular glass boards are vapor-tight.

The determination in the case rules are important for the wind resistance.

Fire protection “Hard roofing” according to DIN 4102-7 – Cellular glass panels belong to building material class A1. The thermal insulation is not flammable. For the component “roof”, the state building regulations require, in addition to the classification in a building material class (A1) usually a so-called “hard roofing”. This is to ensure that the roof structures are resistant to spreading fire and radiant heat. For the manufacturers of waterproofing systems, these tests with the different seals are avilable.

The subsequent to the rising elements and roof penetrations have to produce wind dense.

The steel trapezoidal deck metal roof have to allowed after building inspection DIN 18 807 and have to lay after the rules for steel profile table for roof-, wall-, and floor-construction of the industry union for promotion of building with steel sheet e.V. .

The thickness of the cellular glass insulation comply with the lawful and object-specific requirements of the heat transmission (U-value of the element). Please check our data sheets.

The minimum thickness of the thermal insulation is 40mm. Tapered insulation systems starts by a thickness of 30mm. With a multi-ply shift were the insulations boards stick together among each other with GLAPOR flex hot bitumen. The use of the bonding with the insulations boards among each other is ca 2-3 kg GLAPOR flex hot bitumen.

The use of the bonding with the insulations boards on the underground is conditional on his evenness and is ca. 5-8 kg GLAPOR flex hot bitumen. The overlaying of ridges and throats were processed by emery boards by the shift of the tapered insulation systems.

The minimum roof pitch of 2% should be aspire. Roof pitches under 2% are special construction and need a special shift of tightening lanes.

The processing temperature of the bitumen is ca. 150-180°C.

The flat roof rules and regulations of the tightening lane producers are important for the shift of tightening lanes. If you use a rich polymer single-layer tightening, you need a hot bitumen drain at the GLAPOR cellular glass boards. The use is ca. 2,0 kg/m² roof area.

Installation instructions

On a galvanized, coated steel trapezoidal deck metal roof, the GLAPOR cellular glass board is dipped on two sides in a vessel filled with GLAPOR flex hot bitumen melt.

Insert diagonally so that the longitudinal and transverse joints are filled with bitumen.

For a short time, secure the insulation board against movement.

Pour GLAPOR flex hot bitumen paste and spread with a rubber spatula on the cellular glass surface as a cell-filling top coat.
Consumption approx. 2.0 kg / m².

Two-layer, bituminous seal,
install over the surface a two-layer, bituminous seal.
Torch first and second layer.
Note:
Welding the waterproofing membranes directly on the cellular glass boards - without top coat - is not possible.
